Specifications

Formats, platforms, and requirements.

What do I need to use Aethis?

You'll need: (1) A computer running Windows 10 or later, or macOS 10.13 or later, (2) An audio interface with an instrument/Hi-Z input for your guitar, (3) For plugin use: a DAW that supports VST3 (Windows/Mac) or AU (Mac only). Aethis also runs standalone without a DAW.

Is Aethis free to use?

Pre-release versions are completely free with full access to all features. The first stable release (v1.0) will be a paid product. There are no subscriptions—just a one-time purchase when v1.0 launches. Enjoy the free alpha while it lasts!

How do I install Aethis?

Download the installer for your platform from the Download page. Run the installer and follow the prompts. The VST3 plugin installs to your system's standard plugin folder. On macOS, the AU is also installed. Launch your DAW and rescan plugins, or run Aethis Standalone directly.

Can I use Aethis for live performance and recording?

Yes. Aethis works as a standard VST3/AU plugin in any compatible DAW. Insert it on a track, arm for recording, and play—your processed guitar signal records directly to that track. For live use, the standalone app provides direct monitoring with low latency. In a DAW, use direct monitoring through your interface or enable low-latency mode.

How does the Voices harmonizer work?

The Voices section adds up to four pitch-shifted voices to your guitar signal. Each voice has independent control over: interval (±15 semitones), fine-tuning (cents), level, stereo pan, and delay. Scale quantization keeps harmonies in key with 8 scale types. MIDI mode allows real-time chord-following harmonies where your guitar provides the tone and MIDI controls the pitch.

What are the three amplifier models?

Aethis includes three amp models powered by Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) technology: (1) Rosaria—warm mids and smooth breakup for blues and rock. (2) Lumina—crystal cleans with maximum headroom for jazz and funk. (3) Noctis—tight bass and aggressive high-gain for metal. Each has full tone controls (gain, bass, mid, treble, resonance, output) and saves settings independently.

What effects are included?

Pre-Amp Section: 9-band graphic EQ and drive pedal with tube-style saturation. Post-Amp Section: 9-band graphic EQ, cabinet simulation, reverb, stereo chorus, and delay with ping-pong mode. The dual EQ setup lets you shape tone before and after the amp independently.

What audio quality options are available?

Aethis offers adjustable oversampling (Off, 2x, 4x, 8x) for pristine audio quality. CPU Saver mode reduces processing load for lower-powered systems. All effects and amp processing adapt automatically to your DAW's sample rate from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz.

What plugin formats are supported?

VST3 (Windows and macOS), AU/Audio Unit (macOS only), and Standalone application (no DAW required). Aethis is 64-bit only.

What are the system requirements?

macOS: 10.13 High Sierra or later, Intel or Apple Silicon. Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. Both: 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended), audio interface with instrument input. ASIO driver recommended on Windows for lowest latency.

What sample rates are supported?

Aethis supports: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, and 192 kHz. The plugin adapts automatically to your DAW's project sample rate.

Who is Aethis for?

Studio guitarists who want authentic amp tones with creative harmony layering. Producers building richly textured arrangements. Songwriters needing instant access to polished, layered sounds. Live performers requiring reliable, low-latency processing. Anyone who wants professional guitar tones without expensive hardware.
